School JSA's Green Party!
The Green Party began as discussion of "green politics" around the year 1984. These conversations and dialogues began to spread until the party itself was formed by state-level Green Parties coming together in the mid 1990's. The very first state-level Green Party dedicated to have a running candidate was created when seventeen people met in Augusta, Maine in January of 1984. The formation of the new and only state-level Green Party in the country went unnoticed at the time. As years went by, the Green Party slowly gained legitimacy from politicians and at the Green Party National Convention in 2000, the "Green Key Values" were created which explains the party's stances on issues. Values of the Green Party consist of but are not limited too: grassroots democracy, social justice and equal opportunity, ecological wisdom, non-violence, decentralization, community-based economics, feminism and gender, and respect for diversity.

The Green Party would support the resolution that wealthy countries are morally responsible to release surplus vaccines to less wealthy nations. The Green Party heavily believes in and encourages Covid vaccinations as they are a safe and effective way to promote public health. Their platform also emphasizes the belief that healthcare is a right, not a privilege and works to provide more accessible and affordable healthcare. Their beliefs about promoting peace and welfare in foreign nations demonstrate the party’s continued global concern. The Green Party would support this resolution because wealthy countries releasing surplus vaccines would make vaccines more accessible to individuals living in less wealthy nations, and promote public health on a global scale.
